Zzz ... too lazy to write the topic
Waking up early has never been my thing. At times I have given a try, not full-heartedly though, and failed. Its very rare that I wake up early in the morning. Every time my alarm goes off, my first thought is always to stop that blasted noise and go back to sleep. There have been days, when I stopped 6 consecutive alarms each at a gap of 10min and again slept. Now that's the heights of laziness ! But whenever I do wake up early, I really feel awesome. I see the sun rising, birds chirping and love the fresh air and the serene atmosphere.
This summer I went to India, and there were few a occasions when I woke up early and would see my father already awake. Then he would ask if I would like to have some tea. His day begins with a cutting chai (tea) with the previous day's newspaper. I would then sit next to him and we would have some deep and intellectual chat. Wow! I loved that. Next we used to go out for a morning walk where he used to plug flowers which he would offer to the God. I used to enjoy the tranquility of the environment. Not many motor bikes on the street, no noise pollution. Only there would be the municipality workers cleaning the streets and trash bins, cows still lazying and ruminating , birds already out on their daily food hunt and the stars still fading away slowly as if they are saying, its our time to hit the sack now.
Back in France, things go very differently for me. I've never gone for a morning walk ever since I here, except for a few occasions when I would return back to my place after hanging out the whole night in a bar or a club. Or the other day when I had to catch my train at 5:59am. It was a Sunday and the subway starts at 6:30am on Sundays. So I had to walk 16km from my place. But these doesn't qualify as a morning walk besides the fact that I walked in the morning ;-). During my holidays, its even worse. I stay awake the whole night and sleep around noon or 13:00 when my body fails to keep up with my mind. I almost never go to bed before 2:00am even during the working days.
For the last couple of days, I'm go to bed on time (around midnight) and wake up around 6:00am. I notice that my productivity is almost always higher, not just in the morning but all throughout the day. And I also notice a significant feeling of well-being. I feel the days are much more longer. Although I still miss the sweet chirping of the birds and the morning walk with my dad, I'm still loving the fact that I'm waking up early.
Very soon, my fall semester is going to commence and I want to change my insomniac habit. I hope the saying, "the future belongs to those who rise early", is true. Let me know if you are an early riser. If yes, share some short experiences that you might have rising up early (maybe watching out of the window a hot chick still sleeping or maybe something you do after waking you). And if no, have you ever thought of becoming an early riser ? I'd love to read your comments.

hey DJ,
ReplyDeleteIlove your blogs specially the food blogs which were quite interesting and enjoyable.
Now coming to this one, I do love waking up early in the morning(not too early though and also this has been a distant dream for the last couple of years). incidentally I used to wake up early in the morning when i was doing my HS. That was the time when instead of studying my mind would be roaming around thinking of things that one could do instead of going through the syllabus. But studies apart the times that I did wake up early it was quite a feeling, seeing the world around you come to life is quite overwhelming if you think of it that way, it actually feels as if life around you taking birth every morning. I especially love the time when just before sunrise there is so much peace and tranquility and as soon as the sun rises the symphony of life comes to life, it does feel magical when the cacophony of noise around comes together in a perfect way to create sweet music that that is enchanting, though only in the morning, it would be quite irritating to hear in any other time of the day.
