Confused amidst Alas and Hurray !

It's the last day of the year and it feels like the year started just yesterday. I always take a moment on the last day of the year to reflect on what I've done, what I've achieved and what I've experienced during the current year. Should I be sad that 2011 is about to end or should I be excited about the arrival of 2012 ? I ask myself this unsettling question at the end of every year and yet I could never come up with a tangible answer. I guess Syrus rightly said "Not every question deserves an answer."

2011 has been like a roller coaster ride for me with both highs and lows. The important thing is I embraced life as it came to me. I learned to be patient and how to say NO. I realised the point of travelling is not to see all the tourist spots but to relax, have fun and to experience the new culture. I visited 6 new countries (Croatia, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy and Poland) and wished I could travel even more. I grew a serious passion for food. I tried a few weird things like sleeping on the street in the winter, celebrating my birthday solo, skinny dipping to see what the fuss was all about and the list goes on.

Perhaps one the best phases of 2011 was when I was in India during summer vacation. I had a scooter on which I would travel a lot and would stop by the food stalls to eat something new every time all day along. I had a lot of fun with my cousin and my 3 year old niece. I was very sad to see a few gray hair of my mom. I never thought she could get old (I know that's silly).

Well the year was not all about fun and frolic though. I spent some very stressful moments and I had no clue what to do and how to tackle them. But its okay. Life without problems would indeed be beautiful but not magical.

Now that I'm going to step into 2012 tomorrow, I hope this year is also going to be as wonderful as 2011. I would love to do as many new and crazy things as possible. I would love to learn a new language. And of course the year will be packed with a lot of travel, food and parties ! Wish you all a very happy new year.
