Pursuit of Happiness

It has been a long time I visited my blog.  Frankly, I don't even remember when was the last time I opened my blog. I was caught up amidst my part time job, girlfriend and laziness. Now that spring is at the doorsteps; like new flower buds waiting for the right time to blossom; I'm waiting for the right time to come out of hibernation and to spread my wings. I guess, I'll have to wait till July when I'll return back home and will travel across the North East India.

Last time when I was back home, I and a friend of mine went on a trip to Himachal. We went to Shimla, Kullu, Manali, Rohtang Pass, Dharmshala, Mecleodganj, Pathankot (Punjab) and Agra (Uttar Pradesh). It was one of the most amazing trip I've ever made. I've closely guarded the sweet memories of the trip which I'll always cherish. I'd an amazing time, yummilicious food, amazing places and I vividly remember the whole trip cost me less than Rs.3000 (all included).

This summer, I'm planning to go to Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya to admire the Northeastern beauty, to have some finger licking food (yes I'm a foodaholic) and to be a part of the real India. Although I've not yet planned which places to visit; sure I've plenty of time to make my itinerary; one thing is certain that like the last time this time also my budget will be a very low budget one. I don't know why, maybe I'm cheap or maybe bit adventurous, I love very low cost budget trips. I feel a sense of satisfaction.

Although summer has yet a lot of time to come, this hasn't stopped my fickle mind from dreaming about the things that I'm going to do. I think it will be a trip for 1 or 2 weeks. I'd love to camp during the entire trip. Its not the rain or the mosquitoes or the snakes which would bother me. Rather I consider these elements to be the vital spices enriching my food ... oops I meant fun (did I say food again ?). What I'm bit worried about is of getting robbed. In order to avoid any such mishaps, I've thought of carrying a very basic luggage ... 3 or 4 clothes, no cell phone, no ipod, no fancy items, no cash, just a credit card and a good pair of shoes to walk miles. As for food, for a change, I'd love to visit the villages and pay a local family to eat a meal instead of eating in a Dhaba. Nonetheless, I'll make sure that the trip includes a lot of adventure and fun. I hope it won't be too much for my cousin to take who would join me during this trip. It will be his first extreme low budget trip.
